If you have not accessed the Support Center before, you can do so through the Community Center, https://community.sw.siemens.com. Use the "Support" drop-down to navigate to the Support Center; you will be directed to log in if you are not already signed in.
In the Support Center, click on "Simcenter Testing Solutions" under the "Downloads" dropdown menu as shown below:
Click on the "Simcenter Testlab 2606" release from the available options. If it does not appear, select "All Versions" or "Simcenter Testlab 2606" from the "Select a Version" dropdown menu.
Click on "Simcenter Testlab 2606" from the tree on the left, and download the "Simcenter Testlab 2606.iso" file.
A ISO file is a single file that contains all the installation files. An ISO file is an "Image" file that can be burned to a DVD if desired. However, it is not necessary to burn it to a DVD to install it. It can be installed directly from the ISO file on a PC. See the instructions below for how to do this.
If installing Simcenter Testlab on a network with access to a central license server, it is not necessary to install the License Server on the local machine. Skip ahead to section 3.
If a popup window appears that says some prerequisites are needed to run the software, click "Next" to view or change the prerequisite components that will be installed or upgraded.
The prerequisite step checks if certain libraries and other needed programs are present on the computer for Simcenter Testlab to run successfully.
Click "Next" to begin the installation of the items that are checked.
The Simcenter Configuration and Unit System tool is used to manage the preferred quantity units, as well as the folder locations for user and group settings.
When designating a root location for user configuration settings, be sure to use a location with both read and write access. Each user will get their own subfolder, and will need to be able to interact with that location.
If desired, a location shared with other users can be designated as a group configuration folder. This can be useful for standardizing custom settings such as layouts, print templates, and processing settings.
Click “Finish” on the last screen to move to the next part of the Simcenter Testlab installation.
The pop-up window for the Simcenter Hardware Diagnostics will come up. This utility is used to scan Simcenter SCADAS hardware and make a diagnostic report.
Click "Next" to start the installation.
Click “Next” through the installation to choose all default settings, until you reach a window asking if you want to install the Simcenter SCADAS XS driver. Check this box. This will ensure proper installation of the XS driver for current or future use. Select next.
On the next screen, keep the default option to enable the exceptions to the Windows firewall during the installation. Select "Next."
Select "Install" to begin the installation of the Simcenter Hardware Diagnostics; once complete, click on "Finish" to move on to the installation of Simcenter Testlab.
When coming to the screen asking to fill in the license file or the license server, select the box “Use a license server.”
Local License Server: If using a local license (node-locked or dongle license), type localhost into the space provided.
Network License Server: If using a network license, type in the server name after localhost separated by a semicolon. The default port is 5053, which is already considered in the default localhost option.
If the IT department has a specialized port number for Simcenter Testlab software, add it in front of the server name (Example: portnumber@server or portnumber@localhost).
Select "Next."
For the help documentation, the software can be left at its default selection to use the online documentation manuals hosted by the Support Center without the need for any further installation. However, if you want to direct it to instead use manuals from a specific Documentation Server that you have access to, you can enter the server hostname of the computer hosting that server and port number that was selected during the server's installation. If you intend to install a Documentation Server onto your own computer for offline access to the manuals, keep the server name as "localhost" to indicate the computer itself, and ensure that the same port number is used here as when installing the Documentation Server.
On the next screen, choose Desktop – Standard or Desktop – Advanced based on the licenses on your sold-to. These features can be found in your license file. Click "Next."
Select "Install" to begin the installation; once the Simcenter Testlab installation is complete, click "Finish."
If using the Support Center option for access to the manuals, no further installation of the documentation is needed. However, if you intend to set up a Documentation Server for use by yourself or your team, you can install the help server and its manuals from the main page of the Simcenter Testlab installation wizard.
To install a local help server, begin by using the "Install Documentation Server" option from the main page of the Simcenter Testlab installation wizard. The installation will begin with a language selection, which is for the installation wizard's interface itself, followed by options of where to install the Documentation Server and its shortcuts.
When designating the port number, the application port is the number that users of the documentation server will need to enter on the documentation selection page of the Simcenter Testlab installation wizard. If you are installing a documentation server for your own offline use and already installed Simcenter Testlab, use the same application port as what you had entered previously.
If intending to serve the manuals to other users, the Documentation Server can be made accessible over the network. Otherwise, it will be for use by only the local computer it is installed on, such as for offline access to the manuals.
After the Documentation Server has been installed, the contents of the manuals can be added to it using the "Install Simcenter Testlab manuals" option from the main page of the Simcenter Testlab installation wizard, or from the standalone download of the "docs-simcenter-testlab-2606-en-US.exe" from the same Downloads page as the .iso file. These manuals can be used with existing Documentation Servers of version 3.2 or newer.
In the Simcenter Testlab download section (see first section if needed) select "Simcenter Testlab Drivers" from the pulldown.
The option to download Simcenter 3D and Amesim Drivers will appear. To begin the download, simply click on the desired driver.
The Simcenter 3D Driver allows Nastran and other simulation mode shape and FRF files to be viewed in Simcenter Testlab. See the knowledge article Nastran and Test: Compare Mode Shapes and FRFs for more information.
The Simcenter Amesim Driver allows Simcenter Amesim models to be viewed and processed in Simcenter Testlab; more information is available in the knowledge article Accessing Simcenter Amesim Models in Simcenter Testlab for more information. There are three versions of the driver available for download on the drivers page: the "Amesim 2604 and earlier" driver, which is compatible with Simcenter Testlab 2606; the "Amesim 2504 and earlier" driver, which is compatible with Simcenter Testlab 2506 and newer, and the legacy "Amesim 2022.1 and earlier" driver, which is compatible with older versions of Testlab such as Simcenter Testlab 2406; for more information, see the knowledge article Important information concerning supported Simcenter Amesim versions for the "Simcenter Testlab - Driver for Amesim".
Both the 1D and 3D .zip files will contain four files. Before beginning the install, make sure to extract the .zip folder to a safe location.
Right click and run “Simcenter Driver Setup” for the desired driver as an administrator.
The Simcenter Driver Setup will open. Click “Next” through the installation to choose all default settings.
Click “Install” once all default settings are selected.
Once completed, select “Finish”.
